Rise in PC and component prices?

I just read an article from arstechnica.com that suggested a rise in PC components that will force a rise in desktop and laptop prices.  Components and indeed, complete PCs and laptops/netbooks etc, have all been dropping dramatically in price the past 6 years, but due to the recent recession, the manufacturers of all the various parts downsized their operations and thusly, reduced the output of components for the industry.  read more

Whats the difference between Hardware and Software?

I remember the very first time I ever saw a similar question.  It was for a competition I was entering when I was about 12 years old and it gave like a multichoice answer, to which, well, I couldn’t answer!

Bare in mind that it was 1987 and I was still in Primary School and had only then seen computers from a distance under the watchful scrutiny of a classroom teacher!
